Business Card QR Code — Free Guide to Name Card & vCard QR
A QR code on a business card lets new contacts save your details or open your portfolio without typing. At conferences and meetups, that small square often beats a stack of cards that end up unread in a bag.
vCard QR vs URL QR on a card
vCard QR embeds name, phone, email, and optional company fields. Scanning usually offers “Add contact.” Best when you want an instant address-book entry.
URL QR opens a page you control — LinkedIn, portfolio, Calendly, or a personal site. Best when your details change often or you want analytics on a page you host (maintool itself does not track scans of static codes).
Many professionals print a vCard QR on the back and keep the front clean for name and title. maintool can generate either format privately in the browser.
Step 1: Choose fields carefully
For vCard, include at least your name and one reliable channel. Add organization and website for B2B events. Double-check spelling — typos get saved permanently into other people’s phones until they edit the contact.
Step 2: Generate with maintool
Use the vCard QR Code Generator or the URL QR Generator. Prefer dark modules on a light background. Download SVG for the print shop.
Step 3: Card design and print size
- Reserve roughly 2×2 cm (or larger) for the QR on standard cards.
- Leave quiet white space around the code; do not crop into the modules.
- Avoid placing the QR over busy photos or low-contrast colors.
- Order a small proof batch and test before a large conference run.
Networking tip
Say what the code does: “Scan to save my contact” or “Scan for my portfolio.” Ambiguous QR codes get ignored. If you also want chat leads, a separate WhatsApp QR on a flyer can complement the card.
